DeskVault Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information DeskVault may handle, how protected media is used inside the app, what user controls are available, and how to contact Zeran Labs with privacy questions.

Last updated: March 25, 2026

1. Information DeskVault may handle

DeskVault is built for sensitive media workflows on macOS. Depending on how you use the app, it may handle:

  • Media files and related vault metadata imported into DeskVault, including protected filename information.
  • Vault settings such as app lock, password or Touch ID preferences, recovery options, export choices, and per-file sync permissions.
  • Local transfer, import, playback, preview, screenshot, clip-save, and export state needed to operate the workflow.

2. How DeskVault uses information

DeskVault uses this information to run the secure-media workflow requested by the user.

  • Encrypt imported content, browse the vault library, play protected media, preview images, and manage files inside the app.
  • Apply lock behavior, recovery settings, export controls, and other security preferences selected by the user.
  • Support user-initiated LAN Import, screenshot save, clip save, export, and optional sync or recovery choices where supported.

3. Storage, sync, and sharing

DeskVault is designed around local-first storage and explicit user choice.

  • Protected files are intended to remain on the user’s Mac unless the user explicitly exports them or enables a supported recovery or sync option.
  • DeskVault can play encrypted audio and video and preview encrypted images without decrypting them into temporary files, so those assets stay stored on disk in encrypted form.
  • The product is not positioned as a general-purpose cloud drive and does not sell user media data to data brokers.

4. User controls and retention

DeskVault is designed to keep high-risk actions visible and user-directed.

  • Users can keep files local only, allow supported sync or recovery on selected items, or export plaintext copies when they intentionally leave the vault.
  • Users can delete vault items or export DVault packages as part of their own storage and transfer workflow.
  • Copies exported or transferred outside DeskVault are no longer controlled by the app.

5. Contact and policy updates

If you have a privacy question, concern, or request related to DeskVault, contact Zeran Labs at support@zeranlabs.com.
